Kate Weinberg grew up in Teaneck, New Jersey and is now a junior at Yeshiva University, majoring in Finance and minoring in History. Growing up Kate was involved with her synagogue, where she attended prayers and served as a youth leader every Shabbat. She spent her summers at Moshava and Mesorah where she served as a counselor for three years. After graduating high school, she took a gap year studying at Midreshet Harova, where she lived in the Old City of Jerusalem and focused on her Judaic Studies. Kate currently works for one of Israel’s startups and is hoping to explore career opportunities that combine her commitment to the Jewish community and her passion for the business world.

Kyle Seidel

Kyle Seidel is from Woodmere, New York. He is currently a Junior in Yeshiva University majoring in Computer Science. Prior to College he studied in Israel for a year and a half at Yeshivat Har Etzion (Gush). Kyle went to Moshava Wild Rose in Wisconsin as a camper and most recently was assigned to be a division-head in camp this past Summer. One of his favorite hobbies is playing Ping Pong. Kyle hopes to be able to use the technological skills he will gain in College to innovate the way we learn Jewish texts online.

Lana Kolchinsky

Lana is from Moorestown, New Jersey and is a junior at Stetson University where she is pursuing a major in Political Science and minors in Management and Religious Studies. In high school, Allison was heavily involved in her youth group, NFTY, where she served as the Regional Ritual and Cultural Vice President after returning from her semester abroad in Jerusalem with URJ Heller High. Lana has spent 7 summers at Camp Harlam in the Poconos and is looking forward to returning to work there again this summer. She has participated in the WayMore Israel summer internship program in 2019 during which she lived in the Old City in Jerusalem and interned at the Interfaith Encounter Association. On campus, Lana has been actively involved in Stetson University Hillel where she is currently serving as Hillel President for a second year. Outside of Hillel, Lana serves as the Program Lead for Title IX education, Senator in her Student Government Association and works as an employee in Stetson's Career and Professional Development office. Lana is passionate about making connections with Jews from all backgrounds and is driven to learn more about Jewish history, culture, and thought whenever she gets the chance. 

Lea Goldman

Lea is from Toronto, Canada, where she attended TanenbaumCHAT. She is currently studying psychology at York University. On campus, she is involved with OU-JLIC, where she loves meeting other Jewish students and attending classes and events. She also volunteers as a tutor for an underprivileged middle school student through an organization started by her younger brother. Lea has spent her summers at Camp Ramah in Canada since she was 12 and worked as a Sgan Rosh Edah this past summer during zoom camp. In the future, Lea hopes to combine her passions for reading and working with kids and become a teacher.  

Marci Jacobs

Marci Jacobs grew up in Thornhill, Ontario where she attended Associated Hebrew Day School, as well as Community Hebrew Academy of Toronto. Each Shabbat was spent at Beth Emeth Bais Yehuda Synagogue. Both of these settings played a role in shaping her Jewish identity and cultivating a passion for Jewish education. Marci has attended Camp Ramah in Canada every summer since 2009, advancing from a camper to a staff member. Marci is currently a junior at Queen’s University in Kingston pursuing a degree in English and Sociology and a second degree in Education. On campus, she serves as the President of Chabad, an organization on campus that has provided her with a wonderful Jewish community as well as incredible leadership opportunities. Playing an active role in the Jewish community is a strong value she holds. Marci is looking forward building upon this value and making a connection with a new community, further developing her Jewish identity and advancing her Jewish education.

Molly Kavanaugh

Molly Kavanaugh is a junior at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio. She is pursuing a major in English with a concentration in Fiction Writing as well as a minor in Religious Studies. Growing up in Kansas City, Molly attended Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy, a pluralistic Jewish Day School, for thirteen years. While in high school, she was a member of the Bnai’ Tzedek Council, a youth philanthropy board tasked with encouraging Kansas City’s Jewish youth to engage in tzedakah. Molly spent her summers as a camper and then a counselor at Camp Ramah in Wisconsin where she enjoyed working with Jewish teenagers, planning enriching activities, developing her Jewish identity, and building meaningful relationships. At college, Molly has been an active member of Kenyon Hillel, participating in weekly Shabbat programs, attending Friday night services, studying Tanakh with a group of interested students and Gambier residents, and serving on Hillel’s leadership board. Molly is incredibly grateful to take part in the Nachshon Project, and she looks forward to serving the Jewish community while simultaneously striving to become a successful novelist. 

Morgan Ducar

Morgan Ducar is a Junior at the University of North Texas, majoring in Religious Studies and minoring in Jewish and Israel Studies. Morgan grew up in Denton, Texas and attended Congregation Kol Ami in Flower Mound, Texas. At UNT, Morgan has served as the Engagement Vice President, the President, and an active service leader of Hillel. Over the past 7 years, Morgan has attended and worked at URJ Greene Family Camp and is excited to start her 4th summer on staff. Morgan is looking to continue her studies after graduation and either become a Jewish Educator or a Rabbi to continue to serve the community that served her throughout her childhood.

Nadya Goldstein

Nadya is a Junior at Muhlenberg College and graduate of the American Hebrew Academy doubling majoring in Psychology and Sociology. She is from New York City, where she has been involved in the Jewish community. On campus, Nadya often attends Chabad and is a part of the Soccer team. She has spent summers at various camps, including B’nai Brith Perlman Camp and Eden Village. She has been inspired by the connections and memories she has made within the Jewish community, and hopes to give back in to the community in the future.

Noa Appelsies

Noa is from Minneapolis, Minnesota. She is a junior at the University of Minnesota studying Jewish Studies and Communication, and minoring in Hebrew. She has been very involved in the Jewish community, serving on the youth board of her temple for four years. She was also an active member of NFTY. Noa grew up going to Jewish summer camp at the Minneapolis JCC, and has spent the past 12 summers at Camp Interlaken JCC in Wisconsin. This summer she plans on returning to camp as a unit leader. She is a development intern at Minnesota Hillel, and helps plan events for Chabad on campus. Her dream is to work in the Jewish communal world!

Sam Amiel

Sam Amiel is a Junior at Queens College, where he is majoring in Sociology with a minor in Data Analytics. After living in the Maryland and DC area for the first 8 years of his life, he moved to Seattle, Washington with his family where he went to Seattle Hebrew Academy and Northwest Yeshiva High School. During High school, Sam was active in NCSY and worked as a youth group leader at  his synagogue, Sephardic Bikur Holim.  After graduating high school, Sam spent a gap year attending Yeshivat Lev Hatorah in Ramat Beit Shemesh. Since 2014, Sam has been involved with camp Moshava Alevy and Bnei Akiva. He has attended camp Moshava Alevy every summer since 2014 and plans to go back this upcoming summer, working as Rosh Moshava. Sam is an avid sports fan, loves to listen and play music, and is looking forward to gaining meaningful experiences and opportunities during his time on The Nachshon Project!
